Lady Diana, better known for her love for the blue sapphire jewelry, was an ardent lover of emeralds as well. She flaunted off the royal jewelry with elegance and style. No wonder, she was the style icon at her time and the fashionista had a great taste in gemstone jewelry.
Her May birthstone jewelry formed an important part of her jewelry wardrobe, but one piece that created a special place in her heart was the famous art deco choker she received from the Queen Mother. This necklace was originally designed with 16 cabochon emeralds and was one of the jewelry that formed the Delhi Durbar parure. Queen Mary remodeled it in 1920’s and brought it down to 14 emeralds set in platinum in art deco style. She picked up this timeless jewelry to pass on to Diana as her wedding gift.
The new owner loved it dearly and chose to wear it for several important events of her life. Let’s see two major events that witnessed her adorned with this green hued jewelry-
1) Her 36th birthday: Even after her divorce was finalized, she wore this choker on 1st July 1997, her 36th birthday. She was attending the Centenary Gala of the Tate Gallery in London and a beautiful diamond and emerald bracelet complemented the choker the best.
2) In Australia: She wore it in a stylish manner and the choker became her headband. She looked fabulous and the onlookers were spell bound.
